Intractable Pain?

You know - the kind that doesn't respond to any tradition pills or treatments... That's what I had - a swollen foot that I could barely walk on, and only in one pair of shoes (when was a woman EVER happy wearing one pair of shoes for weeks on end? Let alone, one ugly pair of great support athletic shoes that make you feel clunky as well as look clunky - they are fine to work out in, but not fit for any other event). I don't have experience, fortunately, with back pain or migraines but I understand they are also often this kind of intractable pain that doesn't lift for days or weeks on end.
